Garmin Forerunner 210 with Heart Rate Monitor (Teal)

Product Description

Forerunner 210 gives you the freedom to train indoors or out, while tracking every minute and every mile. This GPS-enabled sport watch accurately records how far, how fast and how hard you worked. Available in a sleek black model or dark gray with teal accents.

Easy to Use

The Forerunner 210 is simple to use so you can focus on your workout. Out of the box, you’ll charge it, take it outside to find GPS satellites and answer a few setup questions. Then just press start and take off. Once you’re done, press stop. It really is that easy.

Take it Further

For runners who want more training capabilities, Forerunner 210 lets you create customized interval sessions and see your pace for each interval. If you’re using the 210 with the foot pod, you will later be able to see your cadence, or steps per minute, when you upload your data to Garmin Connect.

Follow Your Heart

Some versions of the Forerunner 210 come bundled with a premium soft strap heart rate monitor to display your heart rate in beats per minute. It has five heart rate zones, which you can customize based on your exact zones. You can also set up heart rate alerts to notify you when you are above or below your targets. Forerunner 210 provides heart rate-based calorie computations so you can more accurately track your calories burned.

Outdoors or In

We took the easy-to-use operations of the Forerunner 110 and added indoor capabilities, making the 210 the perfect sport watch for those who like options. For outdoor runs, Forerunner 210 uses GPS to accurately record your time, pace and distance. To track that same data at the gym, snap the foot pod¹ onto your shoe and you’re good to go. Using advanced accelerometer technology, the foot pod collects and sends precise data about your movements, gathering distance and speed data that is 98 percent accurate for most users, right out of the box.

For even more options, Forerunner 210 also works with certain indoor fitness equipment so you can track and store data from a treadmill run or an indoor cycling workout. This capability helps you bridge the gap between your indoor and outdoor fitness activities so you can continually track your progress.

Store, Analyze and Share

Whether you’re training for a race or launching a healthier lifestyle, you’ll love the motivation that comes from reviewing your workouts online. Tracking your data is simple with Garmin Connect™, our website for free data analysis and sharing. Just upload to Garmin Connect from your PC or Mac, then see the route you traveled on a map, view a summary of your workout data, create goals and more. For indoor activities when the GPS isn’t in use, you won’t see mapping in Garmin Connect, but you’ll still have a record of your workout data.

Monitor Your Health

You also can track weight, body fat, body water and six other measurements when using the Forerunner 210 with the Tanita BC-1000 body composition scale. The readings are stored on Forerunner 210, then automatically sent to Garmin Connect when in range of your computer.

Fast and Accurate

Forerunner 210 features HotFix® satellite prediction, which means it locks onto satellites quickly so you can be out the door and on with your run in no time. It also has a high-sensitivity GPS receiver to stay locked onto satellites, even near tall buildings or under tree cover.

¹Included with some models, sold separately on others.

  • Easy-to-use, button operated
  • Records position, speed/pace, distance and calorie data
  • Automatic Time zone

4.0 out of 5 stars Great GPS Watch - Excellent size for Woman's Wrist, January 3, 2011

Bought this watch as a gift for my wife. I've had the Garmin Forerunner 205 for 2.5 years and my wife had been interested in getting her own for some time. The thing that was holding her back was the size of the 205. It just didn't fit comfortably on her wrist. The 210 solves that problem with it's compact size and actually offers more features than the 205 (heart rate monitor and interval support). The 210 is so small I would actually consider is reasonable to wear around as a regular men's sport watch (unlike the 205 it is easy to display time as the primary screen rather than buried in a sub menu).

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the USB connector / recharging cable. The watch has 5 points on the back used for downloading data and charging and to connect it to the computer or power plug you have to use an odd proprietary clip that clamps down on the front and back of the watch. You have to be very careful to line up all 5 of the contact points otherwise charing... Read more

My first Garmin GPS sports watch was a Forerunner 305. Worked OK but I was not too fond of carrying a canary cage around on my wrist. And I found most of the menu choices and options irrelevant to what I really needed, which was just to know my pace, distance and elapsed time. I eventually sold it on EBay and "upgraded" to a Forerunner 405. That I found to be a very frustrating piece of equipment: non-intuitive, complicated menus plus a very cranky touch-bezel input method. In a year or so of using that watch, I never got anywhere near comfortable with it. The touch-bezel seemed to have an evil life of its own; I really never could make it work right. And the battery had to be re-charged constantly. Finally, in a fit of frustration, one day I jerked it off my wrist, stomped it to death and threw it in a trashcan. No more Garmin for me for the last year or so.

But, finally, I could no longer deal with not knowing my current pace and started checking out sports... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great GPS watch, easy to use, easy to train/race with, January 26, 2011

After my IMTX training buddies finally convinced me to invest in a Garmin Forerunner, I decided to go with the 210. I did a lot of research and I liked the functionality and look of the 210, and went with that. I bought mine online at REI (had some gift cards) and it came with free standard shipping, and got here just in time for my race last weekend.

So it arrived on Sat and my race was on Sunday morning. It charged fully within a couple hours, and it took me only a few minutes to figure out and complete the initial set up. Another minute later and I had all the basic functionality figured out. On race day (sprint du), it found the satellites very quickly, less than a minute. The run portion was in a park, not on Google-able roads, and the 210 worked as well as I had hoped. It was easy to check my pace, my heartrate and distance without distracting me from the race. I love how it beeps every mile (you can change the default lap distance), but the beep is not too loud to... Read more

Rating: 4.1

Polar RS400sd Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Product Description

The RS400sd adds in running speed, pace and distance with the S1 foot pod, so the active runner who runs multiple events each year can monitor all elements affecting performance. The Running Index feature will help the athlete to improve their running efficiency, which in turn indicates an improvement in their economy of running performance.

Amazon.com Product Description

Designed for the active endurance athlete who wants to improve his or her performance by planning, monitoring and analyzing training data, the Polar RS400sd wrist heart rate monitor helps you to easily and accurately measure your heart rate to help you get to just the right intensity or your exertion level. The RS400sd has one of the largest displays in the industry and a fully user-configurable exercise view with countless combinations. And it comes with Polar's ProTrainer 5 software--the most advanced and dynamic training, planning and analyzing software on the market. Easily prepare a detailed training program and transfer your daily training plan to the RS400sd via a wireless infrared connection.

With the included S1 foot pod, you'll be able to take advantage of the RS400sd's Speed and Distance functions, such as speed, distance and pace per kmph/mph, target pace (with alarms and differential), trip odometer, run distance, totals for mileage, calories and time training, and summaries for distance and speed/pace.

Heart rate monitoring includes maximum heart rate (fitness test-based and age-based), maximum/average of total exercise and of each lap (up to 99 laps), three target zones, and audible alarms. It also offers such timing features as time of day (12/24-hour display), dual time zone, day and date display, stopwatch, and alarm with snooze. It features an oversized display, easy to manipulate buttons while on the run, and a comfortable WearLink fabric transmitter. It also includes the following exclusive Polar features:

  • Polar Sport Zones: Polar sport zones provides an easy way to select and monitor the intensity of your training and to follow Polar's sport zones based training programs. The training is divided into five zones based on percentages of your maximum heart rate: very light (50-60%HRmax), light (60-70% HRmax), moderate (70-80%HRmax), hard (80-90% HRmax) and maximum (90-100% HRmax).
  • Polar OwnCal: This feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time e.g. one week, it helps in achieving both short term and long term goals.
  • Polar OwnZone: This feature guides you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determines a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone--your OwnZone--while taking into account your current physical condition.

Manufacturer's Warranty
The original purchaser of this heart rate monitor is backed by a limited warranty that states that this product that the product will be free from defects in material or workmanship for two years from the date of purchase.

Note:
Polar heart rate monitors are precision instruments; consumers are not advised to change their own battery. Polar recommends that all service be done by an authorized Polar Service Center which will include a warranty for 90 days on repairs and 6 months for batteries.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good HRM, excellent software, defective data transmission, March 29, 2008
By
This review is from: Polar RS400sd (Sports)
I received my Polar RS200sd heart rate monitor app. 1 month ago, and have used it about 3/week for running (20-30 km/week).
When I first received the HRM I was a little disappointed by the flimsy plastic apperance of the watch (it is plastic with a thin metal frontpiece and plastic covered glass screen), but so far it is scratch free, and the light weight is nice on my narrow wrist.
The audible alarms, large screen and easy switch between optional screens makes keeping track of heart rate, zones, speed and milage on the run easy and convenient. I have used the preloaded programs and also created my own programs in the software. You can make programs based on different heart rates/zones/speed/time which makes running an optimal interval course a breeze. I have been using the tests (optimizer and fitness test), without much success. They give constant results despite great variations in my workouts. The heart rate strap and footpod have worked w/o failure and distance is... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Right out of the Box, May 12, 2008

This review is from: Polar RS400sd (Sports)
I am very pleased with this product. Right out of the box this watch performed beyond expectations. I simply programmed the watch with my personal information, laced the foot pod through the shoestrings, threw the strap around my chest, and within twenty minutes I was up and running. Everything clicked the very first run - too easy.

As for the software, it was easy to install and fairly easy to navigate. This system can do so many functions that one can easily get overwhelmed. You will have to invest some time to figure out your goals and what you want the information to tell you. But, if you just want a simple graph and basic information about a run, it will do that automatically! You just can't loose.

Here are some specifics: After four short runs I had the foot pod perfectly calibrated. It was not off by much to begin with but adjusting it to measure your stride precisely is a breeze. The heart rate strap is comfortable and I like the idea of... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars My running mate, July 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Polar RS400sd (Sports)
I have been using my Polar RS400sd since 2 years now. I can program my trainings user the software provided in a very detailed way and then do not have to remember the content of each training. All my training plan is there until the race day and my running mate reminds and keeps the track of everything. The only cons is that I have a friend who has RS400sd also and when we run together pace informations starts to get crazy. The coexistence of two RS400sd is not that good. But overall it is a very good product. I also use it for lap timing when I swim. It can also be used for cycling but I never tried that.
